In May of 2011 Elese embarked on a journey to change her life through health and fitness. In December of 2014 she decided to quit her job as a manager at a luxury boutique salon and follow her passion for fitness and became a Pilates and Barre instructor. As her curiosity for health and fitness grew she discovered yoga at Wanderlust Yoga in downtown Austin. She was immediately drawn to the community that Yoga provides as well as the physical benefits a challenging Power Vinyasa class. In March of 2017 she completed my 200hr Teacher Training at Wanderlust Yoga under the direction of Gioconda Parker, Kate Waitzkin and Collette Hill. In May 2017 she began teaching Yo-Strong at Wanderlust but still had a desire to teach Power Vinyasa which lead her to Black Swan in 2018. Her classes are alignment based, upbeat, and motivating. Also, with a background in Pilates and Barre you are guaranteed to get plenty of core work. Her top priorities as an instructor are to provide a fun and safe environment for all skill levels; whether it’s your first yoga class or you’re a well seasoned yogi. When she’s not teaching you can find her traveling through central and south america, hosting active clean-ups in communities around the world, and hanging out with her rescue pup Goldie.
After 11 years on the mat and 9 years as a teacher, one thing has become clear to Lauren: she doesn’t practice yoga, yoga practices on her. “It has transformed me inside and out. I love it, I hate it, I don’t want to live without it.’’ She strives to create Vinyasa classes that are physically challenging and emotionally freeing, full of purposeful alignment and balanced with playfulness. The yoga mat is a reminder to show up in life every day with an open heart and a clear mind.
Through dealing with several injuries of her own and working with private clients with vastly different physical abilities and yoga goals, Lauren developed a focus on anatomy and alignment. Lauren currently has over 1000 combined hours of training, and she is working toward her 1000hr Yoga Medicine teacher training certification with Tiffany Cruikshank. After the encouragement of several students, she added licensed massage therapist to her list of accomplishments and established her own practice in West Lake Hills, TX focusing on sports & therapeutic massage.
When she is not being a self-described human body nerd, you will find her on the trail or a bike, reading on the porch with a cup of coffee, cooking, enjoying good wine, and playing the piano.
